Quantitative Estimation of Bovine Serum Albumin Protein Using UV -Visible Spectroscopy

Keywords : BSA, protein estimation, FTIR and UV-Visible spectroscopy

Abstract

Bovine serum albumin is one of the most important protein in blood serum having numerous applications in various cell cultural experiments. As it contains 583 amino acids which finds greater importance in a number of biological processes. In order to quantitatively estimate the BSA content in various biological as well as chemical samples we reported a versatile approach based on UV-Visible spectroscopy. In the present study UV-Visible and FTIR spectroscopic analysis of BSA protein has been reported. Further a standard calibration curve has been reported by observing the optical density of BSA protein at different concentrations. Further, a linearity curve has been plotted for accessing the concentration of BSA content in unknown sample. This present approach will finds numerous applications in various biological as well as chemical experiments.
