Abstract

Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a common health problem which is increasing in adolescent girls and young women during the reproductive years. PCOS is a complex, heterogeneous disorder of uncertain ethology; it can to a large degree be classified as a genetic disease. It is thought to be the most frequent endocrine problem in women of reproductive age. The present study was aimed to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme regarding poly cystic ovarian syndrome among adolescent girls in selected college at Kathua, Jammu (J&K).The sample consisted of 100 adolescent girls. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the sample. Socio-demographic profile and self-structured questionnaire was used to collect the data from adolescent girls. The comparison of pre-test and post-test knowledge was found to be statistically significant with‘t’ value 2.67 at p<0.05 level of significance. Therefore, it was concluded that the structured teaching programme is very effective in improving the knowledge of adolescent girls.
