Youths' perception of development in Iran: A sociological appraisal



Abstract

The paper explores how youths and development are the two sides of the same coin. Development substantially influences the youths materially and nonmaterially in every society irrespective of class, caste or creed. While modern technology generates social development, the process inevitably impacts the youths, and the vicious circle continues. The expansion of modern social movements across the world including Iran, has widely influenced the youths in various respects ___ their lifestyles, value systems and socio-economic expectations have changed and transformed. Youths in Iran in recent decades have greatly experienced modern tertiary education which contributes to further change in social dimensions. Moreover, half of the youth who are females have experienced acquiring modern education that is determining in social development at national level. However, the scenario has led to various challenges too. The present research has used a combined style of theoretical and empirical methods to each the necessary data. In the empirical part of the research, 400 samples were randomly selected in different parts of Tehran City
