Effect of Economic Growth on Forest Conservation in the Congo Basin

This article analyzes the effects of economic growth on forest conservation in the Congo Basin over the period 1999-2019. Using the dynamic panel data technique to which the dynamic ordinary least squares (DOLS) method was applied, the estimates resulting from this analysis confirm that economic growth, whether oil or non-oil, considerably reduces the forest in the Congo Basin. Furthermore, these results confirmed that the population contributes to the conservation of forests in the Congo Basin.
