Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of oil resources on social progress in the Republic of Congo. To test our hypothesis that the added value of oil exploitation negatively influences social progress in Congo, the Autoregressive Scaled Lag Model (ARDL) was applied over the period 1996-2019 of the country under study. We obtained the results that oil negatively impacts social progress in Congo. Thus, recommendations are made for oil to be the instrument capable of achieving social progress.
