Abstract

The purpose of this study is to define the effects of an Electrical Turbo Compounding system in a diesel engine. The Perkins Diesel Six Cylinders 4 stroke Stationary CI Engine comes without a turbocharger. The Study is based on predicting the effects of the engine heat recovery in the performance, air pollution and global warming by calculations and simulation. It was not taken into consideration the amount of electric power generated from the system.
The calculations and simulation are found that Electrical Turbo Compounding system decreases the temperature of exhaust gas from 570˚C to 150˚C which in turn decreases the air pollution and global warming and save 76.62 kW of heat. The Simulation is carried out by Diesel RK simulation software to study the effect of using Electrical Turbo Compounding system in the emissions of the engine. The Curves have been drawn by MATLAB software.
