This article investigates the crucial role of personal and professional development in developing skills that meet the demands of a constantly evolving job market. Based on a literature review, we aim to understand how personal and professional development contribute to the development of skills that meet the demands of a constantly evolving job market. There is a growing appreciation for transversal skills, in addition to technical-professional skills, and a trend toward personalizing training paths according to individual life plans. From the perspective of Educational Sciences, a shift in the training paradigm is observed, focusing on the centrality of the person and the integration of training into a personal development project. From the perspective of Business Sciences, especially Human Resource Management, continuing education is seen as essential for developing skills that meet the demands of the world of work. Both approaches, although based on different logics, converge in valuing personal and professional development as a structuring axis of lifelong learning.
